the story of 'ophelia'

It’s no secret that we love the effect of hand carving, and we’ve just added some brand new pieces to our shop under the name ‘Ophelia’.

We chose this name after a painting displayed in our family home by Sir John Everett Millais, ours is a print of course! Although it depicts a sad scene from Shakespeare's play Hamlet. We felt the hand carved markings reflected the scattering of brightly coloured petals on the surface of the water. Especially during this year, it acts as a gentle reminder that a sad situation doesn’t need to feel dismal and can be filled with beauty and acceptance of a situation.

The process of carving each piece is also so therapeutic and something that has really help distract from the news when needed! We hope you love these new pieces.
