Christmas with Morris & Co

We were delighted when we were approached by Sanderson to make two bespoke ceramic pieces for their exclusive Christmas gift set for a select group of interior and lifestyle influencers.

Sanderson are the parent company of Morris&Co, working to uphold the legacy of William Morris. They strive to nurture and cherish small businesses and craftsmanship and we were absolutely honoured to work with them on this exciting bespoke opportunity.

The gift set included a handmade Christmas stocking made from the beautiful Willow Boughs Caffoy Velvet in the soft Stem colour, featuring a natural linen trim and loop for hanging. A hand painted candle by our dear friend Meg, who owns the beautiful brand Orna which offers incredibly detailed designs for all occasions. We had the pleasure of creating a stoneware tapered candle stick holder for one of her Christmas themed candles, as well as a matchstick pot complete with a scratch pad base and a bundle of white tipped matches. Each piece was hand thrown on our pottery wheel and finished in our off-white Pebble glaze which allows the natural speckles in the clay to pepper the surface.

After a few months of working on design samples with the brilliant team at Sanderson, we started on production of this exclusive limited batch. The studio bench filled with these beautifully small pieces and it was so wonderful to see them all huddled together in the kiln ready for their firing.

Come the festive season it was such a joy to see the wonderfully cosy photos of these special gift sets being opened. Each set was nestled in eco friendly packaging and tied with a luxurious velvet ribbon.

Here are a few photos from the wonderful Hannah from @HarnhamHouse and Kate from @MyOldPub. We love how the candle echoed the nostalgic feel of the William Morris brand and got us feeling all festive!
