Sustainability

We’re so pleased to have found packaging which is recyclable, reusable or compostable and more sustainable than their plastic alternatives.

We’ll quickly take you through our packaging and some of the other ways we’re trying to lighten our carbon footprint and be sustainable. ⠀

Packaging

The paper ‘bubble’ wrap we use has cleverly designed cushioned pockets to protect each piece, as well as being fully recyclable. To top it off, it is already made with 100% recycled paper!

The outer boxes have a recycled content ranging from 60% to 90% and are sturdy enough to protect their contents as they make their way through the busy postal system. This is especially important if a parcel has an extra long voyage overseas.

Cornstarch peanuts are perfect for cushioning everything within the box. These can be composted or dissolved in water - simply pop them in the sink and run the tap. Or if you have little ones, they make a really fun art project, dab them on a damp sponge and they'll stick together.

Over the years, we have shipped our handmade wares across the world, arriving in places such as America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. So lastly, a very small but important detail was sourcing a non-plastic wallet for the international documentation. It took us a while to find these and we were so worried that we’d be forced to use plastic wallets to get our shipments through customs. Thankfully we came across Tenzalopes Green which are recyclable and biodegradable too!

Energy

Our kiln firings are carefully planned to ensure we are using the space efficiently and making the most of the energy used. We're always trying to do better and lighten our carbon footprint so our next challenge is to offset the energy used by our kilns.

We will share more details soon, It will always be a work in progress but lots of small steps make for a bigger change for our planet.
