ercol x & then they went wild

A brand that needs no introduction, Ercol was established in 1920 by Italian designer Lucian R Ercolani in High Wycombe. Going from strength to strength, the company moved to their beautiful new showroom, which has won a number of awards for its architectural design and environmental features, located in the heart of Chiltern’s furniture making area in Buckingamshire. It’s here that the company celebrated their 100th anniversary with the launch of the trend pod.

Ercol invited interior stylists to transform the trend pod in their own unique style. A blank canvas, the talented Nicki Bamford-Bowes of ‘& then they went wild…’ fame was the first stylist to take on the challenge. Nicki turned the pod into a luxe, warm and inviting dining space featuring lots of lovely textures, rich colour and decedent accessories.

Nicki called the design concept ‘Reconnecting & Reigniting’, something that was incredibly important during the lockdown of Christmas 2020. Instead of the usual flurry of parties and seeing family and friends, everyone was hunkering down for a quiet holiday at home. More so than ever it was time to get the best china out and appreciate precious moments.

Inspired by Ercol’s love of natural, sustainable materials and artisan craftsmanship, Nicki chose our handmade white flecked plates and bowls as the dinnerware for this lovely setting. The rustic texture and tones of the ceramics sat in beautiful contrast with the mid century modern dining table and gold accent accessories.

After years of living with the constraints of the pandemic, the principle of Nicki’s trend pod still rings true, we should cherish the joy and simplicity of being with the people we love in settings that make a house a home. Don’t save the dinnerware for best, all our ceramics are made with love, to be used for all occasions.
