a porcelain canvas
A mutual adoration of food and ceramics, our Instagram love story with the extremely talented Suze, founder of GourmetGlow, began many years ago, when every story was just beginning, and our offering of tableware was developing.
We soon realised that our ethos for quality united us, striving to work with the finest ingredients to create something unassuming yet magical.
We have recently completed our latest commission for Suze consisting of decorative porcelain plates and bowls, each embossed with seashells. We rubbed a black oxide over the surface before running small streams of glaze across the surface to create a free-flowing effect, reminiscent of the sea.
We also experimented with a new glaze that our Instagram followers voted to be named ‘Raven’. It’s a matte, off-black glaze with soft hints of amber and crackles of fawn. This complements the porcelain pieces perfectly.
“Food isn’t about a cacophony of flavours, more subtle nuances that heighten the senses”
Suze, GourmetGlow founder
You only have to look at the GourmetGlow Instagram page to understand that the passion Suze has for food goes beyond just a hobby, the recipes that she creates and the imagery that she produces is a work of art.
You can understand why we look forward to the ping of the inbox and a message from Suze awaiting us, wondering what creation she has up her sleeve. Over the years we have created some unique pieces, pushed our boundaries, and rethought the expected for the unexpected, for example, a dinner plate but in two halves, defies the ordinary while celebrating the extraordinary. Experimenting with different clays, glazes and techniques, our eyes have been opened to new possibilities, and we can’t wait to see what pieces may transpire in the future. One thing that remains true throughout, is our understated design aesthetic and delicate hand-crafted details that we have become known for.
We wanted to share with you some of the beautiful bowls, plates, cake stands, and more that we have created for GourmentGlow, and the exquisite photography that makes everything sing.
We love seeing how our pieces are used and what spectacular recipes will adorn them.
