ebb and flow
A familiar sight on our local walks, from reservoirs, lakes and canals to small brooks running alongside the farmers fields. We wanted to capture this calming imagery in our ceramics.
Our incense holders are hand thrown on the pottery wheel and mimic gentle water ripples, like you’ve just thrown a small pebble into a pond.
For pieces like our hand built bowls, we recreated the dappled water surface by pressing the clay to form the shape, a technique known as ‘pinching’. Each piece starts off as a large ball and then with each press, it gradually forms into a soft, organic shape. We hoped to capture the surface of water and how light jumps and reflects across it, all enhanced with the use of this jewel-like blue glaze.
